The Veil’s was released in 2014 on Windows Phone. With 125 000 downloads, and 2200+ 4.5/5 reviews we considered the game a critical success given the emphasis on story and simplified mechanics.
Part game, part fiction podcast, The Veil follows the story of Ella as she traverses the treacherous seas of the Glass Veil. Told through the lens of a researcher exploring the region 200 years later, the player tracks Ella’s voyage to discover its end.
As the project’s Co-Creator and Game Director, I have led over a dozen collaborators in the realization of this project. As an indie game, I wear many hats from art to design to technology to production.
I have directed voice actors, written game code, made App store submissions, traveled to Helsinki to meet our go-to-market team for Windows Phone, spent two weeks on a farm in Iceland to finish parts of the game, and spent many, many, sleepless nights.
Currently, I am working on a re-release of the game for 2019/2020 on iOS and Android to bring the experience to a new audience.
With advances in mobile hardware, we’re overhauling the games visuals alongside refinements to UX, story presentation, and game mechanics.
